alpaca hat- pokeberry & grey

65.00

This hat is knit with 100% sustainable and ethical alpaca yarn. The grey is a naturally occurring alpaca color, and the magenta pink is natural cream alpaca naturally dyed with locally foraged pokeberries. Pokeweed is an abundant and native North American plant that produces its non-edible (poisonous to eat for humans) berries in the late summer/early fall. I forage the berries myself in upstate New York, then hand dye the yarn and knit the hat in my Brooklyn, NY studio. I use organic natural dyes only. No chemicals or synthetics were used in the processing of this hat. Alpaca yarn is very soft and insulating.
The naturally dyed portion has a beautiful hand dyed heathered effect.

Hat is one size fits all as the ribbed hem allows a flexibility to fit all size heads.
Can be worn folded up fisherman's style or unfolded slouchy style.
Measures:
Width at ribbed hem when laying flat (i.e. circumference): 14"
Length from top to hem when unfolded: 12"
